The Boundless Royal Egypt trip starts in the ancient city of Cairo, a bustling metropolis full of energy and culture that dates back thousands of years.
There we will visit the iconic Great Pyramids of Giza, The Sphinx, Cairo Museum, the world-famous Cairo Bazaar (a shoppers paradise for hundreds of years), and tour the same streets where Mary and Christ were said to have walked before finding sanctuary in an underground cave beneath The Cavern Church.
From Cairo we board our luxury Dahabeya where our private staff, crew and chef await to escort us on the next leg of our journey that takes us to Luxor, Abu Simble, The Valley of the Kings, the great Nubian city of Aswan, and a host of museums and historic sights unlike anything you’ve ever seen.
Like the ship, your stay in Egypt will consist of nothing but four-and-five hotels with international ratings. You will also be dining in great local restaurants renowned for their Egyptian cuisine as well as experience Egyptian “comfort food” from native favorites off the tourist trail.

Arrive in Cairo. After a Meet and Greet with a Boundless Holidays Representative, transfer to the Mariott Zamalek and Towers hotel. The Hotel is an old palace dated back to the opening ceremony of the Suez Canal, built to host the international dignitaries that attended the opening ceremony in 1869. Located in central Cairo, you can go and explore the city on your own during your free time.
From the hotel, you can walk to the Nile waterfront, the lively Downtown or the monumental Cairo Tower to have a gorgeous view of Cairo’s sunset. You can even attend a concert in the Cairo Opera house, which is also within walking distance from the hotel.
Firstly, visit Egypt’s legendary Pyramids of Giza with an unforgettable camel ride near the only existing ancient wonder of the world. Also visiting the Great Sphinx in all its glory.
Stop for lunch in a local restaurant, then visit the area of Sakkara. This is the Oldest necropolis in the whole world, which was used for thousands of years. See the vivid and vibrant colours that have survived nearly five millennia. Another sight to see is the Oldest Pyramid in the world, the Step Pyramid of King Zoser.
Stand in the shadow of the Oldest Stone Wall in the world and see one of the tombs that has retained its colors for 4500 years.

Start the day by visiting the majestic Antiquities Museum, with its impressive catalogue of items from Egypt’s Pharaonic era. Then visit the Coptic Quarter and go to the airport to fly to Luxor. After arrival, check in to the luxurious Old Winter Palace Hotel, which was built in 1886 and used to be a winter residence of the Royal Family of Egypt.

This day will be spent on a visit to the West Bank of Luxor where you will first see the two Colossi of Memnon and the Valley of the Kings. Also known as Biban Al-Meluk (the gates of kings), the Valley of the Kings is where the great Pharaohs of the new kingdom, including King Tut and Ramses II, chose to have their eternal resting place. Following this, visit the uniquely situated and designed Temple of Queen Hatshepsut, the First Female Pharaoh.
There will be an opportunity to see expert stonemasonry in process first-hand on the at an alabaster workshop.
Lunch will be at another of Egypt’s fantastic local restaurants.
Later on, there will be a scenic stroll where you can explore Luxor city and to top it off, there will be a twilight visit to the Temple of Luxor, also see the Sphinx Avenue which, in mythology, witnessed the Opet festival where the God Amon was said to meet with his wife, the goddess Mut.

This day begins with an optional chance for a Hot Air Balloon Ride, offering a new perspective of the West Bank with a bird’s eye view of area’s history through the contrast between the archaeological sites and the modern city of Luxor.
After breakfast, visit the largest pilgrimage site of the ancient world, Karnak Temple, to explore its history and that of the great Kings who built it in 2400BC, witness the towering columns of King Ramses the Great.
Drive to Esna to join our Dahabeya Yacht for 5 nights. This vessel was made to replicate the royal barges used by the monarchy in the 17th to the 20th centuries. Once aboard, start sailing to El-Hegz island and explore Egypt’s rural life.

Visit the Temple of Edfu, dedicated to the God Horus, known as the Lord of the sky. The site is known to be the most preserved temple of ancient Egypt, dating back to the Greco-Roman period.
There will be a chance to use a traditional Horse drawn carriage to and from the temple, passing through the bustling town.

Pass by the Islands of Besaw and Fares, getting a glimpse of Egypt’s rural life which did not change much since Biblical times, before a visit to the Selsela Sandstone Quarries, where the famous Sphinxes of Karnak and most of the temple’s columns and murals were quarried and carved.
Following this, visit the temple of Kom Ombo, the only temple in Egypt dedicated to two Deities: The Falcon God Horus and the Crocodile God Sobek.

After the visit, transfer to the regal Cataract Legend hotel (originally built in 1902) which housed Agatha Christie as she wrote Death on the Nile.
